"Not every wall was built to keep something out."
— The Guide
The Devil's Cross
Among the pages of the The Blackthorn Papers contain fourteen references to the nursery wall. One page in particular references a house on the outskirts of Blackthorn Hollow. Built in 1887 and abandoned less than forty years later, the home acquired a reputation that locals refused to discuss after sunset.
Visitors reported hearing footsteps in empty halls.
Doors were found open after being locked.
Several witnesses described seeing a dark figure standing motionless in the upstairs nursery before disappearing the moment they entered.
Yet the most troubling reports concerned the north wall of the nursery itself.
Investigators claimed that sounds could sometimes be heard from within the wall. Knocking. Scratching. Whispered voices too faint to understand. Witnesses described an overwhelming sense that something was standing on the other side, listening.
According to the document, repeated examinations of the room always pointed to the same eighteen-inch section of plaster.
No hidden chamber was ever discovered.
No explanation was ever recorded.
And yet every investigator marked the exact same location.
It was during these investigations that an unusual artifact became associated with the house: a simple wooden cross.
Unlike a traditional cross intended to provide protection, the Devil's Cross served a different purpose.
It was used to locate places where the barrier between worlds appeared unusually thin.
During the demonstration, the performer slowly moves the cross across a wall while recounting the history of Blackthorn House. The audience watches, as nothing happens. Sliding across the wall and up and down there is nothing to be found…
Until…
The cross is turned upside down to find the evil spirit some have reported in this room and in this spot. The cross is moved over the same area but this time it stops! You can seem to move it. Your hands let go and it clings to the wall by itself!
The wooden cross appears to discover something hidden within the structure itself. Drawn by an unseen force, it stops and finally clings to a precise location.
The very place where generations of investigators claimed something was waiting behind the wall.
What exists beyond that point is unknown.
The records offer only a final warning:
"The wall was opened twice. Nothing was discovered inside. Yet after each opening, the voices stopped... for a time."
Devil's Cross is a handcrafted bizarre magic artifact for séances, haunted-house investigations, spirit theater, and tales of forbidden places. A chilling demonstration where an ordinary wall becomes the focus of an impossible discovery.
