A classic Balloon to Rabbit production box, believed to be a Mac Magic build from the 1960s, professionally restored and tuned by Andrew deRuiter. The mechanism operates smoothly and reliably, making this an excellent working prop for performers seeking a proven piece of vintage apparatus.
This is a unique offering from the Rare Finds & Experiments collection. Once sold, it is unlikely another will be available.
The Effect
An empty production box is displayed to the audience with the front clearly visible. A balloon is inflated and placed inside the box where it remains in full view.
With a magical gesture, or by dramatically bursting the balloon with a large needle, the balloon instantly transforms into a live rabbit.
The rabbit is immediately removed and displayed to the audience, creating a classic and highly visual stage effect.
Many performers have also adapted this style of prop for the production of doves, silks, spring flowers, and other suitable loads.
